Weston Collective Highlight: Alice Romano

The Photography of Alice Romano

My name is Alice Romano. I am currently a senior in high school and I have been taking photography for two years.

All the photos I've selected have been taken during the past 12 months in a time where the world is rapidly changing and our eyes are being opened to things that need to be resolved. During these times I’ve found myself taking more and more photos of the people closest to me. I especially like taking photos of my sisters. In the photos I’ve taken of them I try to show their different emotions on everything that's happening.

Photography is increasingly becoming a way for me to express myself and many of the photos I take are a reflection of how I feel at the moment. I enjoy taking photos of moments that feel simple and mundane but one day might create a sense of nostalgia. What I like about taking photos is how the pictures I take take me back to how I felt that day, what was going through my mind and the moments that happened leading up to that picture. The feeling of knowing everything about an image, where it was taken, why it was taken, the story behind it, not just what is in the frame, is really special. Like having a secret but deciding to share part of it with the world"
