The Weston Collective’s Youth Photography Programs are a vital bridge to artistic opportunity, bringing the transformative power of photography directly to students who may not otherwise have access. By partnering with schools throughout Monterey County and beyond, we deliver meaningful photography education through accessible, community-based programs. These after-school sessions—typically offered once or twice a week—create a safe, creative environment where students can explore self-expression, develop technical skills, and connect with their world through the lens of a camera.

The Weston Collective's Community Youth Photography Program in Seaside, CA

The Weston Collective’s Community Youth Photography Program offers middle and high school students a rare opportunity to explore the art of photography in a hands-on, supportive environment. Held every Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:30 PM at our studio in Seaside, this program introduces young artists to both digital and darkroom techniques, providing a well-rounded foundation in the medium.

Designed for students with all levels of experience, the class encourages creative expression while teaching the technical skills needed to produce compelling photographs. Participants learn how to operate digital cameras, compose dynamic images, and edit their work with intention. In addition to digital photography, students are given the chance to explore traditional darkroom printing—a unique experience in an increasingly digital world. By learning how to shoot and develop film, students gain a deeper appreciation for the photographic process and the roots of the craft.

The Weston Collective is proud to offer this community-based class, fostering the next generation of photographers and making the arts accessible to youth throughout the Monterey Peninsula. Enrollment opens in the fall and tuition covers materials and equipment is provided.
