The Weston Collective is seeking enthusiastic and dependable Youth Program Leaders to lead after-school and in-class photography programs for students in grades 4–8. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with young people and want to help students explore creativity through photography and visual storytelling.

Our educators guide small groups of up to 16 students through engaging, hands-on activities that introduce photography concepts, creative expression, and digital media skills. No prior photography experience is required. We provide training, curriculum, equipment, and ongoing support to help you succeed in the classroom.

Classes are held after school and typically run between one and two hours. Educators create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable experimenting, learning new skills, and sharing their ideas.

Youth Program Lead Job Description

Locations: Seaside, Monterey, Aromas/San Juan
Pay: $25/hour
Schedule: After school hours (1–2 hour sessions)

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic Photography Educator to support an after-school program serving students in grades 4–8. This is an entry-level position ideal for individuals who enjoy working with youth and are interested in creative education. No prior photography experience is required—training and curriculum will be provided.

Hours per Week

  • 5-10 hours per week

Work Schedule

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise small groups of students (up to 12 per class)

  • Facilitate engaging, hands-on photography activities and projects

  • Support students in developing creativity, confidence, and visual storytelling skills

  • Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Assist with basic camera use, file management, and simple editing tasks (training provided)

  • Manage time effectively within 1–2 hour class sessions

  • Communicate clearly with program coordinators and staff

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children (education, camps, coaching, tutoring, etc.) strongly preferred

  • Positive attitude, patience, and strong communication skills

  • Ability to manage a small group of students independently

  • Dependable and punctual

  • Interest in arts, photography, or creative learning is a plus (but not required)
