Large format photography has experienced a resurgence for photographers seeking a contemplative and hands-on approach that requires one to slow down, observe, and shoot sparingly. Join Kim Weston and Rick Murai for a fascinating weekend as they demystify view camera practice. A hands-on discussion of large format usage will be followed by an afternoon field session and will end with the opportunity to develop and contact print your sheet film. The group will enjoy a Saturday evening tour of Edward Weston’s historic darkroom and cabin at Wildcat Hill followed by print sharing and appetizers provided by Gina, Kim and Zach Weston. This intensive weekend is a wonderful opportunity to learn about large format photography or to refine your large format camera work. Students are encouraged to bring their own equipment but sheet film and paper will be provided. We have a few 4x5 view cameras on hand to lend out. 8x10 view cameras we welcome as well!
