Sotheby's to Auction Ansel Adams Portfolio Benefitting The Weston Collective

In 2015, John Crossman generously donated Ansel Adams' 'Parmelian Prints of the High Sierra' to The Weston Collective to benefit black and white film photography students in Monterey County.

On October 5, 2017, the portfolio in its entirety will be auctioned accompanied by correspondence between Ansel Adams and John D. Crossman. When Crossman purchased the portfolio, he noticed that one, 'A Grove of Tamarack Pine,' had not been signed, and thus wrote to Adams in 1974 to request that he sign it. Adams was pleased to accommodate his request, and shortly thereafter Crossman went to the photographer's home to have the final print signed.
